Transparency Camp, OKFest and now, Wikimania! This summer has been busy for the Open Data community. Only a week to go before Wikipedia’s largest gathering yet: Wikimania 2014. This year, Wikimania comes to the Barbican, in the heart of London (where you can also catch the Digital Revolution exhibition). There are 200 sessions over 3 days.
Wikimania has 5 key streams: Social Machines, Future of Education, Democratic Media, Open Scholarship, and Open Data. Each stream has Keynote speakers, community sessions and a Roundtable. Chris Taggart, Co-Founder of OpenCorporates will be delivering a Keynote speech titled, ““Building the World’s Biggest Open Database of Company Information: 60 million companies, 80 jurisdictions, Billions of data points”. The Open Data stream will also feature other notable speakers, and familiar names, such as Nigel Shadbolt, Chairman of the Open Data Institute and Lydia Pintscher, Project Manager at Wikidata.
Wikimania is looking for suggestions on questions that the Roundtable moderator could ask the session hosts. We said we would get the word out there and put some suggestions in ourselves.
What should the Open Data Roundtable discuss? Add your suggestions here. And see you next week at Wikimania!
