This post is the part of a weekly blogpost series updating you on what’s going on at OpenCorporates this week. We’ve not posted in a while because our community manager was unwell but we’ve got a full update for you now. Want to help us get more data? Claim a mission!

New launch
OpenCorporates Impact site is a new platform where we are collecting stories of how NGOs, journalists, investigators and researchers are using our data to do good in the world. This is just the start of the platform and we’ll be adding stories every week! Want to check it out and share a story? Go to impact.opencorporates.com.

Data the OpenCorporates team is scraping…. from the Data team
Peter and Shyam have been working on business licenses, fixing broken company data importers and imported new data. Keep an eye out on our twitter for more details on this!

Update on what mysterious problem solving they are up to…. from the Dev team
Lukas: working on global search.
Peter: worked with Ben to upgrade the main application to run on Ruby 2, which has led to improved website performance.
Seb: Auditing internal processes and improving data quality

Bots submitted & networks mapped by community members…. from Peter Evans & Hera.
We had a great few weeks finishing the transcribing of corporate network of Donald Trump, transcribing over 850 rows of data that he disclosed in the Federal Election Commission filing, unfortunately in the form of PDF. The next step is to run it through OpenCorporates API and see what we come up against!
