After Guernsey we head eastwards to Malaysia, which becomes the 115th jurisdiction of company registries to be added to OpenCorporates. Around 1,160,000 companies have been added to the OpenCorporates website, sourced from the Companies Commission of Malaysia.
The data we are presenting covers:
- Company Name
- Company Number
- Company Type
- Registered Address
We would like to be able to source and publish more data, however the register is primarily kept behind a paywall, with information on shareholders, directors, charges or addresses available only to those with deep pockets, even though the Commission charges significant fees to those companies wanting to carry out business in Malaysia.
Nevertheless, due to recent improvements made in our internal reconciliation code, we have been able to link these companies to around 1000 other companies, via shareholdings, beneficial ownership & branch / subsidiary information.
