Meet Sam Hardinges, Account Executive

IMG_6726Hello. Tell us about who you are & what your role is at OpenCorporates.

I’ve joined the OpenCorporates team as an Account Executive. I will be supporting and growing OpenCorporates’ clients and partnerships to support the public mission as much as possible.

Over the past few years, I have worked in Open Data, PropTech and EdTech, but I am passionate about making data more available to make a positive impact in the world.

What drew you to OpenCorporates?

Many things! Mainly the mission and the team. Everyone at OpenCorporates is ambitious and passionate about making company data more accessible to everyone – helping to highlight corruption and money-laundering, as well as driving innovation.

Where did you grow up?

Like my colleague, Jade, I was also born in Enfield, North London (even the same hospital weirdly). However, I spent most of my childhood growing up in (not so) sunny Bournemouth, which is where I call home.

What’s your favourite childhood snack?

Bubblegum millions (if you know, you know).

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would that be?

I’ve been fortunate enough to do a fair bit of travelling in my lifetime as well as live in Madrid for a year as part of my degree. However, London is a special place and has a great tech scene, therefore I think I’ll be here a while…

What do you like doing in your spare time?

Growing up I was a keen footballer, but since moving from university and into working life in London, I have less time to play. Recently, I decided to take up running and have also taken part in a Tough Mudder challenge.

What’s your favourite book/movie/tv show?

Books – Sapiens – Yuval Noah Harari

TV shows – The Office (UK or US) and Narcos

Movies – Law Abiding Citizen, Hacksaw Ridge, Casino
