This post is the part of a weekly blogpost series updating you on what’s going on at OpenCorporates this week. We’ve not posted in a while because our community manager was unwell but we’ve got a full update for you now. Want to help us get more data? Claim a mission!
Data the OpenCorporates team is scraping…. from the Data team
Peter and Shyam have been working on business licenses, fixing broken company data importers and importing new data.
Update on what mysterious problem solving they are up to…. from the Dev team
Peter: improving our internal data pipeline
Seb: Auditing internal processes and fixing bugs
Bots submitted & networks mapped by community members…. from Peter Evans & Hera.
We had a great week yesterday! At the London FlashHacks, where both Salman and Carlos got their long-standing bots finally in. Ben also got his financial licences from the Central Bank of Somalia accepted. Additionally, Ben is working on these three bots scraping financial licenses from Bank of Israel, Central Bank of Bahrain and Central Bank of Myanmar. Andy has fixed a boatload of his old bots!
Dinotash is on the finish line with his Netherlands financial licences scraper. It’s been an uphill battle as it is a complex one and Zdenek is working on a bot for the Maldives.
Bex and Hera(me!) also finished reviewing all the Trump disclosure data. Here’s a celebratory picture from that!
We’ve still got lots of missions for you! Help us Map the Banks: missions.opencorporates.com

What else?
Global Witness released a damning report on the jade trade in Myanmar, and how the military, state and druglords and involved in it. This investigation used OpenCorporates data to triangulate the leads Global Witness got from locals. You can see the report here: https://www.globalwitness.org/reports/myanmarjade/
And this week has been Shyam’s week of farming and Hera(me) is desperately awaiting the arrival of a kitten. Seb also built a roof – by himself! Chris is off to Open Government Partnership conference in Mexico City today so follow him on twitter for updates on what happens there as he’ll be speaking at a panel and doing a presentation!
